Premature babies kept in a single family room in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit have better outcomes than those in an open bay environment.

Researchers found infants in a single room weight more when they were discharged, required fewer medical procedures, and had lower stress levels and less pain.

Researchers say a single room allows moms to be more involved with their babies and leads to more developmental support.
