SYDNEY: A man who sparked an Ebola scare in Australia tested negative for the deadly disease, Xinhua news agency reports health officials announcing Friday.
The 25-year-old man, who on Thursday morning was complaining of Ebola-like symptoms, had returned a negative result.
The man from Gold Coast, Queensland had recently returned from Democratic Republic of Congo.
A health official said it was highly unlikely the Ebola virus disease would make it to Queensland but said travellers who had been to west African regions affected by the outbreak should visit their local doctor.
More than 2,200 people have died in an Ebola outbreak from over 4,200 infections in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Nigeria. -BERNAMA
